What would your kids do . . . if they had to make decisions about COVID-19?
Would they follow the frenzy?
Or, would they lead the way out of global panic?
Would they be able to make wise decisions in the midst of this craziness?
Or, would they be like those in Oregon who are calling 911 when they run out of toilet paper. Really!
Let’s face it . . . We are a nation of followers.
Most people believe whatever they are told. They don’t take a step back and evaluate the entire situation. How did we end up with so many people who can’t think for themselves . . . who simply follow?
My personal opinion is our system of education. Students go to school and follow their teacher, doing whatever they are told to do. Students rarely make decisions about their education or anything else of importance, for that matter.
Without going into an entire history of our current education system, I believe this was deliberate back at the turn of the twentieth century. Industrialists needed workers who could do menial tasks, so they created the current public school system. A system where teachers lead for 12 years and students follow for 12 years.
Do You Want Something Better for Your Kids?
I sure did.
That’s why I searched and searched for education strategies that would develop “real” critical thinking. Not critical thinking worksheets, but opportunities for students to learn critical thinking skills they can use for the rest of their lives.
- To evaluate situations
- To make wise decisions
- To use the Bible to make those decsions
- To lead the way
- To critique and defend
