Are you Trusting God or Freaking Out? {Caleb part 4}

Why am I writing about Caleb?

I’ve been going through a difficult situation the past few years and am trying to follow Caleb’s example to trust God completely.  I can’t share details right now, but please know it is impossible to control others’ lives & make them follow God.

What is your difficult situation?

Last time we saw the Israelites freaking out; they were not trusting God in difficult circumstances.  But…Caleb places his faith in God, despite the difficult situation.

But Joshua and Caleb … tore their clothes; and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘land which flows with milk and honey.’

Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.” Numbers 14:6-9

Joshua & Caleb tear their clothes, as a sign of sorrow for the majority’s lack of faith.  They know God is judging the majority and are fearful of God’s judgment on all the people.  Although they fall at God’s feet, they must still endure God’s judgment.

Trusting GodWhat I love is their verbal response!

Joshua & Caleb say . . .

“The land is exceedingly good.”
“If the Lord delights in us, He will give us the land.”
“The land flows with milk & honey.”
“Do not rebel against the Lord.”
“Do not fear our enemies.”

Do you see the good in the midst of the wilderness?  I don’t always see the good.

Joshua & Caleb believe with their whole heart that God will conquer their enemies.  Joshua & Caleb keep their eyes focused on God & His faithfulness.

I am encouraged to keep my eyes on God & His faithfulness in my life.  I can’t solve my own problems, but God can.

Whether my problems are figuring out how to teach my kids, how to raise my kids to love the Lord, how to make our income stretch to cover our expenses, or how get along with my husband, friends & family…I must believe God will solve my problems completely.

Trusting GodI don’t want to enter the wilderness & I’m sure you don’t want to either.

For years, I felt like I had it altogether, keeping my eyes on God.  I had small problems – dealing with the kids’ disobedience, arguing with Steve, balancing our budget.  But, they seemed to work out okay.  In recent years, God has humbled me with a problem I can’t bring myself to share yet … so I can only go to Him.

He is the only one who can solve my problems.

Focus On Him

Maybe you are like me…life is going well with not many concerns.  Thank God and keep your eyes focused on HIM.

Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed being a stay at home mom with all the family cares on your shoulders. Take a minute and claim these 2 verses to keep your eyes on HIM.

I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

And my God shall supply all your need according to HIS riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Spend a few minutes taking your complaints & worries to the Lord.

Quit “freaking out” and start trusting God to solve your cares.

He will supply all your needs & YES, you can do all things through Jesus Christ’ strength.
