Most people are starting to take family vacation. Here’s a car activity that won’t bore your children because they will be too busy looking for things!
You will need:
- 1 small 50-page notebook
- 1 large zip-lock style plastic bag
- pen or pencil
- crayons or felt-tipped markers (optional)
Prior to beginning your trip, have the children write their names, the date of departure, and your destination on the cover of their notebooks. Then, at the top of each page, have them print one letter of the alphabet, beginning with A and ending with Z. (An older sibling or Mom or Dad could help younger children.) Store the notebook and pencil/pen in the plastic bag.
Along, the way the children should look for special landmarks or items of interest and write the names of the landmarks or items next to the appropriate letters in the notebook. For example, barn would go under the page with B at the top. Under the word, have them draw a picture of the item.
After reaching your destination, encourage the children to continue filling in the blank pages. Extra pages can serve as a diary of activities you and your family take part in during the rest of your vacation. Once home, the children may wish to color their pictures to complete a unique souvenir of the trip. The entire family will enjoy looking at one another’s diaries, and you may want to tuck them away to be enjoyed in future years.
