Songs & Scriptures for a Thankful Thanksgiving Time

Free Life Skills Leadership Summit

Thanksgiving opens our eyes to God’s blessings all around us. We are thankful for life itself, God’s Presence, our families, good food, beauty in nature, beloved friends, and so much more!

Songs & Scriptures for Thanksgiving

Options to cultivate thankfulness abound: grateful trees, thankful posters, praise reports before the meal, and verbally expressing appreciation for others. Two things top them all for me: Scripture and Singing!

Scripture expresses those personal thoughts about the Lord that we can’t find words for and it increases our faith in the giver of all good gifts. Even little children like the Word of God!

Family singalongs are fun. Children love to sing and easily learn familiar old hymns and worship songs. Songs express the emotion of a thankful heart in a deeper way than just words do.

Scriptures for Thanksgiving Week Devotions

Thanksgiving week is a great time to set aside time to read a passage of Scripture and sing a song or two together, even if it’s not part of your normal routine.

Let me give you some Thanksgiving Scripture & Song pairings that you can choose from or mix-and-match for your own time of Scripture & Song.

I Don’t Feel Thankful This Year

Often when we go through hard times, we pull away from those who love us most, including the Lord. God’s love doesn’t change when hard times come. He promises to be with us and He promises to bring good out of it somehow.

Press into God. Don’t pull away. Be honest with your hurt and pain. Allow Him to heal you and even fill you with praise. These Songs & Scriptures for Thanksgiving were chosen for you!

Psalm 107 – “A Mighty Fortress is our God” & “Praise Opens Prison Doors”

Psalm 138 – “Victory in Jesus” & “Do It Again”

Job 1, 2, & 42 – “Amazing Grace” & “I Speak Jesus”

Psalm 18 – “There is Power in the Blood” & “Oceans”

Psalm 23 – “Just as I am” & “God Will Make a Way”

But I Can’t Sing or Play an Instrument

You can find all these songs on YouTube. Just google the song name with the word “lyrics” next to it. You can also find all the Scriptures for Thanksgiving online.

Free Gratitude Challenge

To help you out, I’ve created a simple 30 Day Gratitude Challenge Printable. Each person in your family should have their own printable. At dinner time or bedtime, let your kids write what they are thankful for that day. There is enough space on the printable to let your kids write what they are thankful for that day.

I wish each one of you a very Happy Thanksgiving! As for me, I’m going to read Scripture & Sing Songs.

Until next time Happy Homeschooling!

Warmly,
