If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, then you know my heart’s desire is to help homeschool families learn how to incorporate Christian Leadership Education into their lesson plans. This isn’t something you will find in the public school or private school systems.
In fact, most homeschools wanting to provide their children a Christian education don’t know how to provide the leadership aspect. They don’t teach their children how to influence & impact those around them, leading those in their care.
So, let’s chat about why you should include Christian Leadership Education in your homeschool and how it can help your own children.
What is Christian Leadership Education?
I go into quite a bit of detail in this post, but if this is your first time hearing about this educational method, here are the cliffs notes. This type of education is formulated from a Biblical worldview.
Having said that, it doesn’t leave out the desire for academic excellence. Instead, it places just as much (if not more) emphasis on preparing students for being leaders in their home, church, community, and beyond. At the core, it is God’s way of raising courageous leaders who can boldly walk in leadership roles all from a Christian perspective.
It is a method that can be used for young people and older students alike. In fact, I advocate for coordinating lessons for your entire family versus individually. The education of our children rests on helping cultivate a love of learning on top of using a homeschooling curriculum that genuinely meets the unique needs of your students.
5 Benefits to Using Christian Leadership Education
in Your Homeschool
#1: Gives necessary skills for making a positive impact on society.
In order to raise the next generation of leaders, we have to understand our role as the homeschooling parent. In some cases, you may need a small paradigm shift in order to see yourself as confident, equipped, and able to raise a leader. and this education model provides you with that.
Contrary to popular belief, textbooks and daily lesson plans aren’t always the answer for giving your students a superior education. Making a positive impact on society involves going beyond academics into the realm of having a strong character foundation and being spiritually rooted. This includes the most important life skills for kids.
#2: Encourages critical thinking.
If there is one skill that has been lost and never fostered in the traditional school systems, it’s critical thinking. Academic achievement has always been placed on how well students perform on tests while Christian leadership education focuses on spiritual growth and seeing … living life by the word of God.
Our Christian worldview is built on being able to critically think, think outside the box, and come to unbiased conclusions. These are the kind of characteristics embedded in successful leaders.
My guess is these are the characteristics you want for your children.
- To think critically.
- To think Biblically.
- To make wise decisions.
As your kids become teens they should dive into child led learning and build critical thinking skills.
#3: Christian Leadership Education prepares your children for life.
Once the academic clubs and STEM activities have ended, what will your students have left that will positively impact their future? Do you know which life skills to teach so they are prepared for life and to lead well for Jesus.
Through Leadership Education, your students will avoid what I call the “conveyor belt education” which prepares them to walk in their God-given calling. They will also be prepared to become entrepreneurs that change communities for God. Whether your students want to pursue a college degree or be a stay-at-home mom, the tools and skills they learn will help them do that and more.
Even moms, or especially moms and dads, need to know how to lead well. They lead every day. Are you training your kids to be parents who can lead well?
#4: Motivates students to live a life that honors God.
Part of this philosophy of education is always keeping God and His Word in their rightful places. If using the Bible as your main textbook is important to you, you can easily accommodate that desire with this educational model.
In fact, I have a free resource below that teaches you how to create your goals to simplify your homeschool. You’ll also discover how to personalize your child’s education.
Overall, you can QUIT all your worrying about leaving out the most important piece of life – living a life that honors God.
#5: Christian Leadership Education gives you confidence.
Over the years I’ve had the privilege of talking to and helping a lot of homeschooling moms and families. Many feel overwhelmed and wonder if they’re doing enough for their children. Some of their concerns include:
- How do I boost my child’s ability to think?
- Is there a way to get my child to learn independently?
- How do I build character in my child’s heart?
- How can I help my child to enjoy learning?
- What do I do when I feel overwhelmed?
- Will my homeschooled student truly be ready for life after “school”?
Can you relate? Do you have similar questions?
Deciding to homeschool is one thing, but wanting to do so from a Christian standpoint can be a little intimidating. That’s why I’m thinking about revamping my course. I want to help give you the practical and necessary tools for giving your children a superior education.

Hi Kerry…I completely agree that Christian Leadership Training is so important and so valuable. We have used Worldview Academy and Teen Pact as part of our homeschooling journey (and continued when our kids went to school). It has been immensely helpful in helping them to have a Biblical worldview!
