Today is the final Sunday in Advent (the 4th Sunday in advent).
Have you found time for quiet contemplation?
Is your family anticipating the arrival of Jesus Christ?
Today is the single pink candle which represents Mary, the Mother of Jesus. I don’t know the significance of pink, but I can only imagine it reminds us of Mary, a woman with feminine traits. Mary, a Virgin who is the immaculate conception by the Holy Spirit.
Today is a reminder of miracles. Miracles that Mary is pregnant, without ever “knowing” a man. Mary who is wise beyond her years.
Have you ever taken time to read Mary’s song found in Luke 1. Read this with your family today and discuss what it means to you.
Mary’s Song…
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant;
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me,
And holy is His name.
And His mercy is on those who fear Him
From generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm;
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
And exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
And the rich He has sent away empty.
He has helped His servant Israel,
In remembrance of His mercy,
As He spoke to our fathers,
To Abraham and to his seed forever.”
Ps. I was pregnant with my only son at December. In fact, I went to the hospital on December 25th, but had to go home. He was born on December 30th. Being pregnant at Christmas time causes you to contemplate what Mary experienced.
Question: How do you look on Mary? Can you relate to Mary as a mother?
