What’s in the Bible – Jesus is the Good News {Review of Vol. 10}

how to simplify your homeschool

I’m reposting my review because you still have a few more day to get each of my favorite Bible DVDs for kids, What’s in the Bible?,  for only $7.99 each. This sale lasts thru April 3, 2017. Let me share why I love these DVDs …and I bought them for my own granddaughter.

Whats in the Bible? DVDs are the best on the marketHow can you teach the Bible to your kids . . . so it has an IMPACT & they remember?  With Easter around the corner, now’s the perfect time to look for good Bible resources to use with your family.

I was excited to be asked to review of What’s in the Bible Volume 10 & share what I’ve observed:

The PROBLEM:

Resources to teach your kids more about the Bible are dull.  At least those that teach theology & history.  They are written to adults, in an academic way.

Another problem I see with Bible resources is they have too much fluff.  All they do is teach that God is love over and over and over. Yes, God is love, but He is so much more. There’s nothing deep in most Bible resources.

When I was the Children’s Director at our church, I saw so much Sunday School curricula that was worthless. Either it taught nothing or it was flat wrong. Some Sunday School & VBS curricula today teaches things that are NOT in the Bible.

If our relationship with God is most important in our own life, we should be teaching our children about God from a very young age.

But, how?

What resources can you use to teach kids theological truths and keep it interesting for them?

WHAT I FOUND:

What's in the Bible - Jesus is the Good News Vol. 10Buck Denver & What’s In The Bible? breaks through the dull & fluff barrier!

I just finished watching the first episode on the new Volume 10 of What’s In The Bible? And, I was impressed for several reasons. First, let me share a few ideas your children (& you) will learn in the first of 2 episodes of Volume 10: Jesus is the Good News! (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John)

  • Overview of God’s plan in the Old Testament
  • How Jesus arrives at the perfect time
  • Why God waited 400 years between the Old & New Testament
  • Clear presentation of the Gospel
  • Short history lesson about Greeks & Romans (Homeschoolers will  love this)
  • Easy to understand explanation of the different Jewish groups
  • Very simple explanation of sin – Kids will even comprehend
  • Differences between promises in the Old & New Testament

That’s just the first 25-minute video. In the second video your family will learn about Jesus, His life & ministry, as well as how he died for us, rose again to launch the kingdom of God.

Just in time for Easter & Resurrection Day!

WHY I LIKE What’s In The Bible? Volume 10: Jesus is the Good News! (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John)

One thing for sure, this DVD has more content & information than most Sunday School programs have all year long.  When your family watches it over & over again, your kids will have a firm foundation of the time between the Old & New Testament, as well as the life & ministry of Christ.

Another reason I like Volume 10 right now is Easter is right around the corner. What a better time to teach our kids more about Jesus, His death & resurrection.

If you want to see for yourself, watch this video:

Heidi has this to say about Volume 10.

When I first showed Volume 10 to my kids, my 6 year old loved it, my 5 year old (boy) wasn’t so interested.  But, it grew on him and now he loves Buck Denver.  I would recommend this DVD to any families with kids 5 and up.  Even I learned something new!

I agree with Heidi on age levels. This video is appropriate for kids over the age of five.

9 Reasons Why I Like What’s In The Bible? Volume 10: Jesus is the Good News! (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John)

  • Everyone in your family will learn something new – Even Dad & Mom will learn from Buck Denver.  My VA took the video home to show it to her kids. She came back saying, “I learned why God waited 400 years.”
  • Repetition – Much repetition in the video so your kids will get it.
  • Both adults & kids like Buck Denver – Buck Denver has a dry sense of humor that adults will appreciate and kids will love.
  • Fun & Easy to Use – Pop in the dvd and watch!
  • No Preparation for Mom – Family Discussion Guide included with 5 discussion starters for your family.
  • Catchy Songs your kids will continue to sing
  • Video Download after Purchase – Put the video on your ipad or computer to take in the car or on a trip.
  • Free Shipping on Orders over $25
  • Bonus Items on DVD:
    • Outtakes – Yep, they have outtakes on this dvd

  6. We have Volumes 1-3, and I’ve been so impressed with the quality of the content of each of them!

Can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of them 🙂

    1. I heard so many great things about these videos, but didn’t realize the quality until I watched them myself. I agree.

  7. I own a couple in this series. My kids love them, but I’m not a puppet kinda girl. Still, the material is wonderful and i find myself watching a discussing with the kids

    1. Patricia,
I think the best thing you can do is discuss the video after the kids watch it. So smart of you.

    1. Jess,
I was laughing out loud while I watched the video. You’re so right…learn & laugh together

  8. We have tried Lent this year, and this DVD would go well with out focus on Jesus and his resurrection!

    1. Lawana,
I’ve learned alot more about Lent this year and the Biblical basis. I’ve enjoyed reading Bible passages from my Book of Common Prayer.

  9. Thank you for this opportunity to win a copy of this DVD. My children watched some of this at church and they enjoyed it very much.

    1. Hey Wendy,
Hope things are going well. Are you going to BlissDom this year? Would love to catch up & chat about your project for new homeschool moms

  10. Would love to win and use this dvd for our family to learn and grow together! This could be a family activity for us during this lonngggg winter here; I like books, hubby likes videos, our girls like both.

  11. Thank you for pointing us toward this resource. It looks like one that all of my kids can enjoy together.

  12. I have kids ranging from ages 7 to 16 and they all love “What’s in the Bible”. The series is witty, silly, and full of Biblical “meat”. It explains complex issues in a way that is never condescending. We often walk around the house talking to Pierre or singing the songs and can’t pass by Mike and Ikes in the store without a reference to the show. One of the best resources out there to teach your kids (and yourself!) about the Bible.

    1. Martha,
What a great testimonial. Would you mind if I included that when I share about “What’s in the Bible?”

  13. I plan on using the DVD as part of our daily Bible time… Seems like when we have “multiple” ways of getting the Word in..such as reading, watching something, DOING something, it “sticks” better! 🙂

  14. Our Library has a few “What’s in the Bible” DVD’s and my kids love them and were disappointed when we watched all that the library had.

  15. We LOVE What’s in the Bible! We have 1-8, so I would love to win #10! My kids are 3 and 5, and both my husband and I have learned so much watching with our kids. Thank you for the opportunity to win!

  16. We love this series at our house! Makes teaching the Bible easy and getting an overview of the books of the Bible. I love it that my kids will know more about the Bible at a young age than I ever did!!! Would love to see the newest one.

  17. My grandson would love watching this dvd. We must use all media available to us these days. I used flannelgraph characters (on my flannel robe :), vhs tapes, cassetes and whatever I thought could teach the Bible when I homeschooled my children (starting around 2 and 4 yrs of age). I was amazed at how much they retained and understood at that age.
I really enjoyed watching the sample of ‘What’s in the Bible’. To be honest.. I just discovered it today! Thank you for the chance to win.

  18. I love how the DVD’s are composed of many different aspects all telling the same story! This keeps kids engaged longer by having several different aspects with a central theme. My 4 yr old is able to recall the info from the DVD’s better too!! They are wonderful Bible tools!

  19. My daughter loves this series of videos. I love the fact that they appeal to our whole family…husband, me, and even an almost 20 year old son!

  20. I think this dvd, and the series too, would be wonderful for my kids. We had been living in Costa Rica, and now that we are in the US, we have access to more resources and teaching aids. I think my kids would love to watch this series.

    1. Rebecca,
What part of Costa Rica? We loved our time in Costa Rica. So beautiful – one of our favorite family vacations!

  21. I haven’t seen the videos but I would show them to my four kids. I am always looking for new ways to show them in-depth info on the Bible that isn’t boring.

  22. I would love to win this, I have never heard them but they sound just like what we want our children to be exposed to.

  23. These would be great for our whole family. Especially my 3 sons. They are 13, 11 and 6 and could all learn from them.

  24. We love “What’s in the Bible?” We’re reading through the Bible together and we use it as part of the explanation as we go through each book.
