How To Homeschool My Child

Snowman Crafts for Kids

After lunch on Sunday, I told my grown kids we were making dessert together. They looked at each other and sighed.  {Thinking, “Here goes Mom, again!”}

With a big grin, Steve said he’d be back when they were finished.

Rice Krispy Snowman & Frozen Banana Snowmen

As they cleared the table, I got all the supplies for Rice Krispy Snowmen. Ashley & Kali had already made our frozen banana snowmen before lunch.  I had a few examples printed from pinterest, but they used their creativity to make edible snowmen.

Before you knew it, they were all having fun and laughing . . . even Steve :-)

I suggest reading a book about snowmen or winter before making these snowman crafts for kids.

Form 2 balls of rice krispies. The kids used a toothpick to keep them together. Add eyes (mini chips), nose (starburst or Reeses pieces), arms (pretzel sticks), buttons (mini chips, Reeses or M&Ms) and scarf.

Ashley & Jesse used chocolate covered marshmallow cookies for hats, as well as starburst for noses.  These are the dad & mom of our snowman family.

Hunter & Kali used tootsie rolls for hats. Cut tootsie roll in half. Press one half flat to make bottom of hat. Put second half on top. They easily stick together. They also cut strips on the end of the scarf candy.  These are our little ones in the snowman family.

So the kids got a little carried away. I mean creative.
They started making rice krispy animals as pets for our snowman family.

Frozen Banana Snowman

We tried dipping bananas in melted white chocolate, but it was too thick.  We changed to white candy bark which was much easier to use. snowman crafts for kids

Before candy hardens, add mini chocolate chips for eyes & buttons and orange Reeses piece for a nose.

Add a tootsie roll hat (see above).

By the way, Steve did participate in our desert making.  He held these snowmen against his solid gray shirt so I could take pictures.  Thanks, hubby for a dark background :-)

If you post pictures of this craft, let me know. I’d love to see your family’s creativity.
